Favorite Bands of 2014 by Other Musicians

tyler roadAs always- we here at yourband.info HATE music contests. We hate award shows, we hate voting for “best band in NH”. We hate battle of the bands. We hate online voting when the winner is just a popularity contest. Or worse than a popularity contest; who ever can figure out how to rig the online voting (FYI- clear your cookies, use different browsers, log into different wifi hotspots). We hate telling people that “hey, you are a better band because you got voted by a bunch of people who never even heard of the other bands and voted blindly cause you posted it on facebook.” Why? Music is not a competition. Music is art. Music is subjective. That being said- We have asked a bunch of local musicians who they are digging right now. Does it mean these bands are the best? Nah. Does it mean they are good? Nah… is only means… this person likes them and maybe you will too. So below- you will find musicians telling you who they are listening to and enjoying! Maybe you will discover a new band to check out.

Josh Blair-(Ghost Dinner Band)

Them and the Hive, Powerful originals, cant wait to hear some studio tracks!

Eric Ober -(Rippin' E Brakes and Diamond Joe)

Delanie Pickering is sick. She cant be a day over 18 and I saw her at True Brew open mic killing it. Besides Doc she’s probably the best solo picker around and great covers ex. Mr. Siegal by Tom Waits.

Chris Peters -(singer/ songwriter)

I have to say Pat & the Hats. I dig those guys because they're innovative and persistent. I would bet they rehearse and practice harder than any other local band at the moment.

Rachel Vogelzang- (singer/songwriter)

digging Pat & the Hats! Not only are they a blast to open for, they mix thoughtful lyrics (always a plus for me), catchy tunes, and complex harmonies for an always enjoyable listen. Plus they get the crowd up and moving!

Evan Benoit--(Lead yelper and strummer for Badfellows)

Pleasure Gap. They're this wall of sound psych-rock -experimental folk band with tons of eerie and catchy hooks. They're probably the best band I've ever seen live.

Drew Hines -(Tyler Road)

I recently had an opportunity to accompany Jim Tyrell and he really impressed me. He is a versatile musician who can bounce back and forth between guitar and piano with ease. He was also able to impressively pull off many requests deep from his memory which was very pleasing to the audience.

Tristan Omand -(Songwriter/Guitarist )

Pat & The Hats I just recently got to know Pat & The Hats, and was really taken by how well they function as a band. Not just a handful of people playing music, but a really great hard-working band. And they do wear some pretty swell hats too...

Corey Garland -(Them in the Hive)

I'm really into Pat and the Hats Every song is ear candy and every musician in the band is super talented. They will do big things I predict

Matthew Ghelli -(Boogie On Alice/Captain Chet)

I'm digging on Mines Of Paris at the moment- it's refreshing to see such a different style of local music on the scene. Up til now, I could only get my indie-rock on with The 123's, but Mines has doubled the pleasure! And it IS a pleasure. They are also very polite. Not exactly a rock-n-roll attribute, but commendable just the same.

Pat- (Pat and The Hats)

Dusty Gray Band

Don Bartenstein-(singer/songwriter)

Digging Delanie Pickering lately. Very shy and quiet 17yo Concord HS student with amazing blues voice and playing chops. Blowing us all away at local open mics.

Brenden Harisiades-(Pat and the Hats- )

Captain Chet baby

Jim Tyrrell-(Singer/Songwriter/Hooligan)

Black Oaks, A Plymouth area duo. Kristian Peterson and Zach Brown are gifted writers and performers, and together they are a powerhouse

Derek Astles-(Rippin' E Brakes)

I'm digging The Montana Honky Tonk Bluesman, One-man band Erik Ray. I've seen him play in Contoocook a few times and he's really unbelievable.
