People Skills-Review

How is it that I have not reviewed the newest People Skills album ‘People are People Too’? I seriously thought I had already. I mean, why wouldn’t I? It is one of the best albums of 2014. I feel like a terrible person now for not reviewing this great album.

People Skills are a three piece powerhouse. Chelsea Paolini plays her SG fuzzed out to 11 while bassist Greg Baldi brings Entwistle back from the dead and plops him right down on the low end. Andrew Paolini slams rhythms on the drums; sometimes keeping it simple stupid and other times stupefying your brains with complex polyrhythmic jelly. Each tune on this album has a hook that reels you in like a fish, you can’t help but taking the worm and getting dragged out into the People Skills boat. It is at this point that People Skills takes out their big thunder paddle and starts bashing your brains to a pulp. This music is no catch and release program.

The last song on the album, Lydia, exemplifies the writing style of disjointed chords blended to continuity that makes People Skills so tremendous. You should arrive at the last song by first listening to every song before. Do yourself a large favor- listen to this album and then go see People Skills live!!! Tell them I sent you and they will give you a free case of beer. Well, actually not a CASE of beer…. Just one… and you will have to buy it….
